If you're looking to reinvent yourself, summer is the best season. Glowing up is when you make some changes to better yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally. It's a recipe for success to look and feel like your best self.

To glow up is to silence your inner critic and align your positive thinking skills with your psyche. Make it your time to shine or, in this case, glow. 

Start with the inside and work your way out. Do what feels suitable to you and for you, and become the best version of yourself you can be.

To get in touch with your inner voice, try starting a journal. Writing everything down that comes to you is a great way to express your feelings. 

Journaling helps you understand emotions that may be hard to explain to other people. You may not even realize you feel a certain way about something until you see it in ink. Writing can also help you know yourself better and manage stress and anxiety.

Journaling is so good for your mental health. It can boost your mood and help you cope with depression. The words don't have to be just negative feelings you jot down, either. Use your journal as a way to unwind from your day and recap. Use it to house uplifting quotes or mantras that resonate with you and keep you upbeat and driven.

You could express gratitude and love and build on that in your journal. You could use it as a sketchpad and draw your thoughts or experiences. It's your journal. Please write what you want and see how it makes you feel. Try carving out some hopes and dreams if you wish. Just put pen to paper and see what comes out. It might surprise you.

Pamper Yourself

Schedule time to treat yourself because it's essential. Your mental health relies heavily on you being taken care of. It is not selfish to treat yourself as long as you don't overindulge. Take a bubble bath. You don't even have to do it solo.

Grab your pals and have some good old-fashioned girl time. Include your daughters, too, if you have them. Do each other's hair and give each other pedicures while you watch some old chick flicks.

Do some face and hair masks and give your skin and hair the attention they deserve. Paint your nails or do something new to your hair. Give yourself a fake tan. Watch some makeup tutorials and finally learn how to contour.

The options are seriously limitless. Going shopping is also a great form of self-care if it's something you enjoy. Glowing up for you could mean a whole new wardrobe if you choose. Don't forget to add jewelry and accessories to coordinate your unique style or even match your birth month

Accessories can make or break the perfect ensemble, just like shoes can. When we look better, we feel better. It's just science.

Face Your Fears

Once you've connected with yourself mentally in your journal and physically through self-care, it's time to act on your newfound confidence. 

Think about how you can take control of your life. Is there something you've always wanted to do but felt too scared? You are the creator of your destiny. You are in control of what is getting in your way. Take control and move it.

Fear is a common human emotion. It's OK to be afraid. Being brave enough to conquer what you're scared of sets you apart from the pack. Find some tips and tricks to help you kick those fears out of your life.

You are allowed to be afraid, and it doesn't make you weak. The only way to silence what you fear is to stop the judgment. Show yourself some compassion and lean into what you're feeling. Once you understand it a little better, it will probably be easier for you to overcome.

Breathe and assure yourself that you can face and handle whatever it is that seems to have a hold on you. Take a deep breath and exhale. Have some faith in yourself. You've got this.

Visually picture it and go there in any way you can. Draw it out or meditate and walk around in there. It will bring you peace and happy vibes that can elevate your state of mind and release negative energy.

What did you like to do as a child? Was it your thing to paint, draw, write, dance, build, or produce? Find that thing that used to make your insides warm and fuzzy and revisit it. Sit with it for a while. Try to figure out how to make it leak into your daily life. When you get back to your roots, it sometimes opens up a door for more creativity to flow through you.

Put on some of your favorite old music and choreograph a dance to it. Get out your camera and take some photos or videos just for fun. See what inspires you. Live in the moment as much as possible for as long as possible. Reality will still be waiting for you when you return.

Find Your Niche

Take some time to do a little soul searching. This could mean meditating, doing yoga, or just sitting and thinking silently. Think about what makes you tick. What is that one thing that makes you stand out from the crowd? What caters to your originality? What's your specialty or your muse? Whatever it is, lean into it and embrace it.

Identify your niche and harness it. Decide what you want to do with it and make a plan that is undeniably and irresistibly you. If you already know your place, is there something you can do to expand or improve it? Is there anything you want to work toward to amplify your amazingness in your niche? 

Go on a quest to find what that is and what you want to do about it. Make it an adventure.

Break A Sweat

Working out is an excellent way to glow up, but it doesn't have to be a tedious or repetitive routine in a gym every day. Take a fun aerobics class or kick it in a dance studio. You can go for a jog in a pretty park or around your neighborhood. You could go on a hike either solo or after recruiting some friends.

There are so many beauty benefits that result from working out. Reducing your cortisol hormone prevents inflammation, so it has anti-aging properties. When you exercise, your cortisol levels decrease, so your stress levels do as well.

You will be so happy you made time to fit exercise into your busy schedule when you start to notice the effects.

Check Your Health

It is sometimes challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle when consumed with adulting. Doctor appointments tend to fall by the wayside, and before you know it, you're in a rut and can't seem to remember how you even got there. Eating healthy is more expensive and time-consuming, and it's just easier to slack off in this department.

Exercise has so many benefits across the board. It can improve self-confidence, boost mood, and enhance your immune system. It does wonders for your skin, too. Did you know the nutrients delivered to your skin during exercise fight off wrinkles? Fascinating, huh? Pass those dumbbells, please.

Keep up with your check-ups at the doctor. They are not only there to diagnose illnesses. They are also there to advocate for your health in any way they can. They can hold you accountable for your diet, exercise, and mental health by asking questions about them. Knowing you will be asked about these things will motivate you to stay on task. 

Being held accountable is imperative to maintaining your overall health if you tend to slack off sometimes.

Beauty Sleep

Getting your beauty sleep is essential in a glow-up. Sleep is the way your body naturally heals from anything. Without the proper amount of rest, your body will eventually tell you "no." You can only push yourself so far before you have to rest and reset.

Sleep is good for your mind, body, and soul. It helps ease stress and improves your memory. You know you look and feel prettier when you get enough hours of sleep. Don't skimp on those Zzzs! 

When you don't sleep enough, your cognitive function can decline, putting you at risk for significant health conditions.
