Kewl Gossip: Kylie Jenner's Stunning Transformation
Posted on July 22 2016
Kylie Jenner may be the youngest member of the Jenner/Kardashian clan but she has made a lasting impression as an established fashion icon. Like her sister Kim Kardashian West she has come to embrace stretch fabrics and continues to make them her fashion basics.
In this blog post – we peak inside the life of Kylie Jenner and follow her unique style and transformation from a relatively shy teen into a emerging socialite, model, entrepreneur, and reality TV star.
Kylie was born on August 10, 1997. She and older sister Kendall are the two youngest daughters born to Kris Kardashian Jenner and Bruce Jenner (now known as Caitlyn Jenner). Kylie was educated at Sierra Canyon School and Laurel Springs School, before opting to be home schooled. She graduated in 2015.
Kylie’s first foray into showbiz began in 1997 on the television network channel E!. She starred alongside the rest of her family in the show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians (KUWTK). During that time, however, she and Kendall played second fiddle to bandage dress loving Kim Kardashian, and her two sisters, Khloe and Kourtney.
Since the launch of the show Kylie was a young girl enjoying pigtails and pink ribbons, enduring the awkwardness of being a teen, and exploring various looks. As far back as 2009, she was still a young child with bangs. In 2011 – as she approached 13 – we saw that a young lady was beginning to emerge. She began experimenting with her hair, wardrobe, and makeup - and it is fair to say that she has never looked back.
As time passed, the Kendall sisters became more and more appealing to an audience craving the American dream. This led to both Kendall and Kylie enjoying far more airtime on KUWTK with their sisters and making appearances on red carpets at numerous events promoting Brand Jenner.
Nowadays, Kylie Jenner has morphed into a style icon, model, shrewd business woman, and elite socialite. Kylie is often pictured out and about with her on/off boyfriend, Tyga (he gave Kylie a white Ferrari 458 convertible for her 18th birthday.)
Kylie was recently snapped up by Puma to front a sneaker campaign and launched a new line of jeans in collaboration with Levi’s called Wedgie Jeans. This is over and above the collaboration with Kendall on a clothing line called Kendall + Kylie. A Kendall + Kylie handbag line is in the pipeline. World domination is expected very soon.
Kylie’s Style Timeline
Kylie’s appearance has changed dramatically over the past couple of years. At the Kids Choice Awards in 2013, she upped her make-up game with some glam red lipstick. This was really the trigger for her changing appearance. Who knew that a simple red lipstick could have such a striking effect? We did. Check out our article How to Choose the Right Lipstick for Your Skin Tone to reinvent your look with little effort.
Her hair was cropped and dyed black with a hint of blue for the Billboard Awards in 2014 and her make-up was seriously ‘on point’. She (or her make-up artist) even experimented with contouring and thicker makeup around her eyes and lashes. Since 2015, Kylie has mostly worn longer hair – thanks to hair extensions. She still, however experiments with hair color and highlights.
At the after party of the 2015 Grammy Awards, Kylie showed off fuller lips. This got tongues wagging. Was it natural? Did Kylie go under the knife? She only admitted to having lip fillers in a KUWTK episode in 2015. So while every girl in America was doing the ‘Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge’ and blowing on shot glasses to get fuller lips – Kylie’s lips were far from natural.
Fashion. Kylie has a strong affinity towards bandage and bodycon dresses. This was bound to happen, as her step sister Kim Kardashian West wears them tirelessly; including before, during and after her first pregnancy. While Kim favored Herve Leger – Kylie prefers Balmain.
Red carpet. It is well documented that Kylie wore a black cut out bondage dress (inspired by the bandage dress) to the after party of the 2015 MTV VMAs in Los Angeles. The bash in question was a Republic Records Private party at Ysabel. The cut out skin tight strapless dress was designed by French Fashion House, Balmain where the French designer Olivier Rousteing is the creative director. The Balmain stretch knit cutout dress oozed sex appeal, turned heads and got tongues wagging. Kylie’s dress for the main show was also Balmain. This time it was a tan micro-mini dress with descriptive stitching embellishing the garment.
Lifestyle. Kylie enjoys social media and most importantly - thrives on it. She has fostered a cult-like following on Instagram and is a social phenomenon on Snapchat. Kylie posted a selfie of herself (this June) in a gorgeous maroon Enza Costa punk inspired bodycon dress. The dress was simple and chic and traced her curves perfectly. In mid June, her on again boyfriend, Tyga, posted a series of images (to Instagram) of Kylie sitting on his bed. She was wearing a nude bodycon dress and suede thigh-high boots - we all took cues on how to look sexy and kewl even out of the spotlight from Kylie when it went live.
Kylie Jenner has become a force to be reckoned with and her star power seems to be getting even brighter. There is no slowing Kylie Jenner down. She is out for world domination and as long as she keeps on wearing a bandage dress or a bodycon dress – we are sure to follow, every single step of the way.
