Celebrity Hairstyles for Bandage Dresses

Celebrity Hairstyle Trends for Your Bandage Dress

Posted on May 02 2016

As always we’re following everything that has to do with fashion, style, and trends. One of our many obsessions is celebrity makeup, hair, and of course - bandage dresses. In this recap we take a look at celebrity hairstyles that impress, have survived the test of times, and inspire us to try these bold looks on our own.

The power of an exceptional hairstyle to complete and polish a look is undeniable. In our article How to Get Shiny Hair and Sexy Tresses we touched on different foods that give your tresses volume and length. In this post we take our cues from celebrities and focus more on styling and taming your lovely mane according to the shape of your face.

Carrie Underwood - The Side Part

Carrie Underwood recently attended the 22nd annual Celebrity Fight Night in Arizona. She wore a black sleeveless midi bandage dress with a scooped neckline. The dress was adorned with shapes made from metal, colored glass, and silver filigree.

At the event Underwood wore a side part. The 33-year-old’s hair was cut to just above the shoulder and styled to one side. This is known as a side part. A side part changes one’s appearance dramatically and provides an elegant and chic style to most bandage dress styles. When deciding on a side part keep in mind your facial shape. A well placed part has the ability to make your face appear more slim, soft, and feminine.

Underwood has a long or oblong facial shape that highlights her facial features. Revealing half of Underwood’s face gives the star a mysterious sexy look that pairs well with her scooped neckline.

Amber Rose - Shaved Blond

Amber Rose is a non-conformist when it comes to her style. She is the polar opposite of similar socialites like Kim Kardashian. In March, Rose hosted a white party in the Caribbean and wore a sultry bandage dress that hugged her curves and offered abundant cleavage. The dress was an empire waisted style and designed by House of CB. It featured black and yellow linear lines and a faux black belt. It also had a plunging deep V neckline that left little to the imagination.

Rose’s shaved blond hairstyle is one of the most low maintenance hairstyles in 2016. The style is borderline bald. Rose’s oblong shaped face gains a natural heart shape by appearing to be visually wider with the cropped hairdo. The star shaved her hair off with a razor when she was just 19 years old and reportedly maintains it with a shave twice a week.  It is shaped and tapered perfectly around her neck, natural hairline, and ears to offer sweet femininity.

Taylor Swift - The Bob and Bangs

Taylor Swift wore an off white and gold sequenced crop top and bandage midi skirt by Balmain to the 2016 Grammy Awards After Party, hosted by Mark Ronson. The designer two-piece ensemble offered tons of skin for a look that was young, flirty, and fun.

Taylor Swift has an oval shaped face and the bob frames her face perfectly. The short bob with bangs adds an understated maturity and quirky wisdom to her look while the red lipstick keeps it fresh and youthful.

Oval shaped faces are accentuated best with bobs and bangs (also known as a fringe hairstyle) because the hair hugs the jawline and conceals foreheads. It’s an edgier look and quite the departure for Swift. Yet, it was reported that the singer did her homework and chose this new hairstyle with intent.

The bob will never truly go out of style and is one of the hottest short hairstyles around. We are always willing to embrace the bob. The bangs come as an added bonus. Cutting a fringe is always a bold move and your options are vast including a heavy fringe, a mini-fringe and a long fringe. You can also get a side-fringe and a centered part fringe. Taylor has opted for a rather heavy fringe - and it works well with her oblong face.

Elle Macpherson – Traditional Long Hair

Elle Macpherson aka “The Body” has been the face of some of the hottest fashion and beauty campaigns in 2016. At the Art Basel event in Miami, in December, Macpherson opted to wear a black Hervé Léger fringed bandeau tassel dress. At 52, Macpherson was stunning, lovely, and a sight to behold as always.

Macpherson’s trademark long hair was blow dried with mousse and resembled bed hair. Her  oblong face shape is soften with the longer hair creating linear lines. This hairstyle is versatile and has the ability to give you the illusion of also being taller and more lean.

With long hair the sky is the limit in terms of styling. Curl it, straightened it, add highlight hair extensions, or ringlets for a bit of fun and let your fashion imagination run wild.

Rumer Willis – Chic Short Hair

Short hair, don’t care! Rumer Willis went full glam rock at the Vanity Fair DJ Party in February. The daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis opted for a busty strapless little black dress. The hemline fell just below her knee. Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to source the designer of the dress.

The 27-year-old’s slick raven short hair is gorgeous, youthful, and sexy. It is no secret that her face has changed somewhat of late. While Raven has refused to comment on the matter - we all suspect a new chin. Her diamond shaped face now appears to be more rounded and gives her more of a sweetheart face shape.

We love Raven for her bold hairstyles and exploration. In the past we’ve witnessed her longer hairstyles and find her current pixie hair cut stylish, trendy, and fresh. The style features shortened back and sides but much longer tresses at the top. The Pixie really emphasizes Rumer’s check bones and lips. For the party Raved chose a longer fringe styled to one side for a look that was deviant, sexy, and mysterious.

Karrueche Tran – Fusion Hair Extensions

Karrueche Tran wore a nude bandage dress to her very own Pre-Super Bowl Party. While the dress may have raised a few eyebrows - we believe it did its job expectantly well - showing off her best features (like her thighs) and we loved the simple design of the tie knot on the side.

We loved the simplicity of the long straight hair and added hair extensions for the extra length. Nowadays you have an array of hair extension types to choose from. Loop hair extensions are easy to install, weave hair extensions take a bit more skill, tape hair extensions are sort of tricky, and pre-bonded/fusion hair extensions give you the most natural look.

Fusion hair extensions are the most popular because they lay very natural and are the least damaging to your hair. Fusion extensions are installed using hair glue or keratin and last up to six months. The entire process takes up to 4 hours depending on how thick your hair is. The tape hair extension is the quickest to fit and less permanent. While the weave and loop hair extensions are used when the hair is thicker.

Khloe Kardashian - The Lob (Long Bob)

What would a bandage dress article be without any mention of the Kardashians? Khloe was photographed in New York (in January) in a stylish and sophisticated camel coat and emerald green bandage dress. She was on her way to an appearance on Good Morning America. The emerald green mesh panel dress was from fashion designer Self-Portrait.

Khloe’s hip new hairstyle is a welcome change from her usual look and oozed sex appeal. The only real difference between the bob and the lob is the extra hair length. Khloe has an oval face shape which is complimented well by the long bob. Khloe also opted to color her brunette hair blonde. This works well with her olive skin tone.

Blac Chyna - Half-up, Half-down

Blac Chyna was photographed in February wearing a black lace-up bandage dress by Hot Miami Styles. Chyna’s hairstyle was quirky and different.

Blac Chyna has a round faced shaped and she often wears her hair down so that it sweeps her checks. In this case, her hair was styled half up and half down. A large part of her tinted silver hair was plaited and then rolled into a top knot at the top of her head. The leftover hair was brushed neatly down. A piece of hair can also be plaited down one side or in a simple ponytail with half the hair down.

When it comes to choosing a hairstyle that compliments your bandage dress remember to consider the shape of your face and your wardrobe as a whole. Although most styles are easily adapted to your looks for the day, it is best to keep your colors neutral and easy in length. For example, black and brown tresses are easy to style and maintain. Longer hair offers you low maintenance options while shorter hair requires more frequent trips to your hairstylists. Keep in mind that the hairstyle you choose must give you confidence, be trendy, and work with your lifestyle.
